Our appraisers are experts at area rug and textile valuations and we offer in-person and online appraisals with an average turn-around time of 4 days.
Oriental, Persian, Turkish, and other wool, and silk rugs are a commodity, and their value is based on quality, availability, supply, demand, knot density, age, and the condition of the rug. The value of rugs can go up or down in price, depending on market conditions.
Our area rug appraisals are relied upon by rug wholesale and retailers, area rug collectors, insurance and restoration companies, and clients who want to know more about the history or value of their rug. Appraisals are helpful when determining worth, especially for the purposes inheritance, IRS write-offs for donation purposes, private sale, auctions, or curiosity.
An independent appraisal is valuable for insurance purposes as well. For example, let’s say you pay $10,000 for a Tabriz area rug and a water intrusion occurs in your home from a hurricane or the failure of your water heater. The insurance company could care less what you paid for the area rug since most area rugs are overpriced, to begin with. In the absence of an INDEPENDENT appraisal, not one from the store you purchased the rug, the insurance company many offer $1000.00 as the replacement value. It happens all the time.
If you’re seeking more information or history of your cherished area rug, or want to know the value for insurance, sale, or tax donation purposes, Our appraisers would be happy to be of assistance.

The city of Birjand and surrounding towns and villages are well known for the production of decorative formal design rugs displaying floral patterns drawn in a curvilinear style based on a Persian city workshop-style dating back to the early 17th Century. This rug displays this tradition. The colors are from a characteristic Birjand palette, the tones of which suggest that this rug was probably made in the late 1950’s early 1960’s.
