Oriental Rug Salon is the “cleaner of choice” to many of our areas leading interior designers, Oriental rug retailers, insurance and restoration companies and clients who desire a professional cleaning or repair of their cherished wool or silk area rug.
As specialist cleaners of Oriental, Persian, Turkish, Kilims, Dhurries, Soumaks and many other types of wool and silk area rugs, we’ve earned the trust of our nation’s top certification bodies for area rug cleaning. In addition, clients ship area rugs from around the United States to have them cleaned or repaired by Oriental Rug Salon.
Unlike rug cleaning production houses who use automated batch washing equipment to wash many rugs at a time, each rug cleaned by Oriental Rug Salon is washed by hand under the supervision of a certified-experienced rug master. We do not use rug “washing machines” that treat all area rugs the same. Every rug has its unique cleaning needs. Some rugs bleed, some have pet urine, some are antiques and can not take the stress of a batch washing, etc. We wash area rugs by hand because that’s the right thing to do.
Another mistake rug owners make is allowing carpet cleaning companies the opportunity to ruin their area rugs. Carpet cleaning companies do a good job at cleaning nylon wall-to-wall carpeting but in most cases, are not trained, certified or insured to touch a hand-woven area rug. Please take a look at this video so that you can protect yourself from unqualified “rug” cleaners: https://www.orientalrugsalon.com/videos/never-let-carpet-cleaner-clean-rugs-home/
From the moment the cleaning process begins, your cherished textile never leaves the sight of a professional cleaning specialist. We are able, on the fly, to make adjustments to chemical, pH, and water temperature while your area rug receives the care it deserves. This specialized attention simply isn’t possible in shops that use impersonal washing machines.
Your rug is special. Many hundreds or thousands of hours went into the production of your hand-woven area rug. With proper care, your cherished textile can last for generations.
Tip of the Week – Powdered Carpet Deodorizers and Hand-Woven Rugs
Don’t use them! Powdered carpet fresheners become impacted in the foundation yarns of your rug and can damage the warp, weft and face yarns. These fresheners can lead to the creation of “traffic lanes” or face yarn sanding, by not only clogging the foundation of your rug but when mixed with moisture or spills, these powders will hold on to sand and other particulate that can scratch your rug fibers.
