Pet Urine Contamination and Oriental Rug Cleaning in Bonita Springs

Specialty urine decontamination bath

Urine is the most common cause of dye bleed and contamination in area rugs we are called on to resolve. As soon as urine is deposited, a process begins whereby urine moves on the pH scale from acid to alkaline. If left too long, urine will break down the dyes of your area rug and can cause dye migration or permanent damage.

There are four detrimental consequences to urine contamination:

  • Urine damage stain to the dyes and foundation of the area rug
  • Potential for dry rotting or fiber degradation
  • The colors of your rug can move or “bleed”
  • An ammonia odor will remain

If human or pet urine has come in contact with your area rug, you should blot up as much of the moisture as you can and use a 50% mixture of WHITE vinegar and club soda to help neutralize the urine.   Moisten the urine area with this mixture (after testing in an inconspicuous area of the rug) and allow to stand for about five minutes.  Blot and then allow to dry.

As soon as practical, give Oriental Rug Salon a call, and we’ll pick up your area rug and provide it with the professional treatment and bath necessary to completely eliminate the urine accident.

We Guarantee Our Urine Removal Service Will Leave Your Rugs Smelling Beautifully Clean & Fresh

Why Oriental Rug Salon’s Urine Removal Treatment Is So Effective

We soak urine contaminated rugs in a specially formulated decontamination bath of enzymes which neutralizes urine, specifically uric acid, and eliminates the odor causing bacteria.

We use a pump system to flush the formula efficiently through the rug as many times as is necessary. Once all urine deposits and salts are expelled, the area rug goes through a thoroughly exhaustive hand washing and is then rinsed with pH conditioned softened cold water.

Oriental Rug Salon is a full-service Oriental, wool, silk and synthetic area rug cleaning and repair facility serving all of Lee, Charlotte and Collier County.  In fact, due to our expertise, certification, and experience, we receive area rugs from across the United States that require cleaning or repair.

Oriental Rug Salon is a Certified Partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau and a four-year-in-a-row winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.

You should NEVER allow a carpet cleaning company the opportunity to “surface clean” your area rug.  Speaking from experience, we frequently are called upon by carpet cleaners to “fix” problems they’ve caused when trying to “clean” a clients area rug with truck mounted equipment.

Oriental, wool and silk area rugs should be cleaned by hand, in a rug cleaning facility that specializes in area rug cleaning.

A carpet cleaning company can NOT deep clean an area rug, and they are ill-equipped in pet urine removal, rug identification, dye migration and anything else that deals with the proper cleaning and care of these textiles.
