Quality Oriental, Navajo and Specialty Rug Cleaning Throughout SW Florida

ORiental Rug 1

At Oriental Rug Salon we understand that all rugs are not the same.

Each Oriental, wool or silk rug has its own personality and a story to tell.  They have different weaves and dyes which dictate how they are cleaned. We understand the “love” put into each rug as it was handcrafted by the weaver.  Our professionals are able to “read” a rug and adopt a specialized cleaning process to ensure each one is brought back to its original beauty while protecting its character and value.

Who you choose to care for your wool or silk area rug can make the difference between extending its life and ruining it.

You should NEVER allow a carpet cleaning company to “clean” an area rug in your home.

Area rugs must be cared for by an experienced craftsman in a controlled environment to ensure there is no bleeding, shrinking or foundation issues.  With carpet cleaning companies, chances are the technician has no clue if your rug is hand or machine made, the type of dyes used in the construction or what to do if the rug contains pet urine, coffee or Kool-Aid stains.  In addition, it’s almost certain the technician is not certified and does not carry the specialty insurance necessary to cover replacement costs of your rug in the event they ruin it.

Before allowing anyone to clean your treasured area rug ask them about their rug cleaning plant.  Ask where it’s located and if you can visit.  We’ve heard instances where carpet cleaning companies are telling clients they own a rug cleaning plant when the facts are they are picking up the rug and taking it to their shop where it is cleaned on a hard concrete floor or in the parking lot.

Thoroughly exhaustive cleaning process

Our thoroughly exhaustive hand-wash procedure for machine-made or hand-woven rugs is a multi-step process designed to maximize efficiency and effectiveness without compromising delicate dyes or weaves.  Our processes are as follows:

1. Dusting – At Oriental Rug Salon we use the world leading Rug Badger dusting system to thoroughly remove all dry particulate from your beautiful area rug.  Unlike vacuum cleaners which leave behind particulate that are lodged in the foundation of an area rug, the Rug Badger system gently and effectively removes 10 times the amount of soil, pet dander, allergens and other contaminants while preparing the rug for a spa treatment.

2. Urine Treatment – If required, your rug will be treated for urine with live enzymes and the pH will be stabilized before immersion cleaning. Keep in mind that while the odor is typically easier to remove, pet stains and the resulting damage may be irreversible.  Our certified technicians are experienced in rug decontamination and pet odor/urine removal is guaranteed.

3. Washing – Once any pre-cleaning treatments are completed, your rug will be submerged in our Turkish bath and allowed to bathe in a gentle bath of water, specialized detergents, and a few secret items we use to perfect the bath water. While some rugs should NEVER be submerged, most have no problem with it and receive a far superior cleaning to any other method. No abrasive brushes, chemicals or temperatures are used; simply cool water, specialized detergents coupled with the experience of an Oriental rug cleaning specialist.

4. Spotting – Once the rug has completed its bath, we will examine the rug and perform spotting as necessary to complete the cleaning.  We also address any fringe at this time.

5. Rinsing – Once your rug has been cleaned, we prepare a pH conditioned rinse and gently agitate both sides of your cherished area rug.  This rinsing is designed to remove all residues as a result of the cleaning while conditioning the rugs fibers to leave them as soft as possible.

6. Drying – Depending on the construction we will either hang the rug overnight in a temperature controlled environment to complete the drying process or place flat on an air-movement drying table.  Once the rug has completely dried we test to ensure no bacteria or moisture is present and then prepare for finishing.

7.  Finishing – Once the rug has dried it is then inspected and finished.  The finishing process is designed to condition your area rugs fibers a second time, deodorize, final inspect and prepared for delivery.

And that’s it! Your rug has now been given the most effective and complete spa-like treatment available.

You have extended its life for generations to come and returned it to a healthy and safe condition with the proper cleaning it deserved. All without exposing it to harsh processes or chemicals!
